Ati Atihan/ bora

It was january. It  was the time for the feast  of Santo Nino or the infant Jesus in many parts of the country. and I had a chance to celebrate it with the Jimenez family and the Calizon clan in Aklan. (My mother’s grandmother side)

  Touchdown Kalibo    Edit

We rode a van from kalibo airport to ibajay.I think it took us more than  one hour of travel. Then, we got off at this marketplace and walked to the ancestral home of my great grandma Roning.

After finding the place, ate, said hello to relatives, especially to grandma, we attended a mass in a church nearby.By the way, their dialect here is Aklanon.

We found this monument here with the name of our lolo cente.

Coronation night

There was also this ceremony that was also a part of their celebation. My  aunt was chosen to be the queen of Ibajay.(she is younger than me though). so she had series of motorcades before this night. The previous queen will be passing her  the throne and crown. There were speeches and presentations.

There was also this social dancw. i hope i know how to do some ballroomdancing moves aside from basic cha cha,

Streetdance

The next day, we are scheduled to celebrate Atiatihan in Ibajay. There will be different street dance and each bario  floats would prepare their own marchband, presentations and floats. Good thing we are allowed to ride at the back of the pick up.I love how the fresh air kiss my face during the whole ride.

We were only rode up to a certain point. From there we had to walk by foot.

Trip to Bora

After the Ati atihan celebration in Ibajay, we rested and went to Boracay. We had to ride a boat upon going to the island.

It was almost sunset when we reached the place.Since we had to go to where we booked for the nights of our stay, we did not see the famous sunset.

Faith village

This was where we stayed because there had been a miscommunication with our inn booking.Since it is Ati atihan time, all the  place to stay were all fullyy booked. good thing we were able to look for this peaceful place. it is like a retreat house. Which is a real advantage because it assured that you are safe. the palxe is perfect for groups or barkada with 350php budget for each night. It has short walking distance to the beach. this is located in station 3.

Paragliding

We rode this boat to get into another bigger boat.We would be trying this Paragliding activity. I was so excited. this is one of the things I really liked to try on our previous visit to this place. i regreted the fact that i was not able to try it back then so this time i made sure that i would be paragliding.

There was this floater in the sea. i was not sure about its distance from the shore but i was certain that i coul not swim from there to here.We were briefed about the activity and were taught about the hand signal just in case we wanted to go down.

Safety was also ensured as harness was attached to us. we were also asked to sign a waiver.

I could say that 15 minutes seemed to be long enough to see the view from above. It seemed as if that the wind ,although not that strong, was able to drag us a littke bit to our left and right. My cousin, who was with me, was a little terrified that i had to divert her attention and talk to her all throughout the air time. It was a bit cold there and i think it is a must that you let yourself dry off so you wont feel chilly. It is also a must that you wear something for your eyes,  a pair of sunglasses will do, so the wind wouldnt dry your eyes.

Cold feet.oh, look at our boat  below,

Selfie from above  .I couldnt stretch my arms as much fearing that i might drop phone

  Night time

Morning vibes

Since the night was sought by most of the merry makers, mornings are great for jogging along the shore. The beach was almost empty of people when  i arrived this morning.

Joggers. can i jog with you guys?
