Skeleton wreck
Coron
Depth: 5m to 22m
Length:25m
It is a Japanese supply ship that sunk due to an airstrike by US forces during World War 2.
At first, it can be intimidating as it resembles a huge jaw or the mandible with its ribs on the sides thereby giving it a spooky and skeletal appearance. It is ideal for beginner divers. It was actually fun exploring this as you can see the form and the structure that remains. It allows you to imagine what it looked like before. You can also appreciate corals and barnacles covering the wrecks, and there you can see fishes swimming freely. I didn’t go all the way down so I just humbly asked Philip, who effortlessly did it, to take a video of the wreck ( shown in the last part of the video.).)))
It is included in our “Coron Island freediving essentials” tour by Louie Bacosa: Coron Tour Guide, Ed Novero among other spots like:
Barracuda lake
Siete Pecados
Banul beach
Kayangan lake docking area
As you can see, there are also other guest tourists here that were enjoying snorkeling and watching freedivers going up and down. Most of them probably availed reef and wreck tour package or island hopping tour B. If you are really into freediving, I suggest you avail an exclusive freediving tour so you can maximize your trip.

Barracuda lake
Coron,Palawan
-Known as a scenic lake surrounded by limestone rock formations (just like kayangan lake but this is deeper.)The lake is huge and it seems like an underwater playground with all its attraction and the fantastic architecture underneath.
-Mixed 70% freshwater and 30% saltwater, Majority of the water is freshwater so it is said to be challenging to ascend to the surface because you are less buoyant. You will also appreciate a shift in temperature underneath the surface as you go deeper from the surface.
-It is named that way because of the barracudas living in the lake.
-Barracuda Lake and Kayangan Lake are said to be the “cleanest lake in the Philippines”.
-Before you enter the lake, you will disembark on a boardwalk and pass through a narrow stairs over a series of limestones so you won’t be needing to climb.
-We went here on the last part of our trip since there were many people during midday.
-Majority of tourists at that time were just enjoying the shallow part near the entrance but they are required to wear life vests all the time. Since we have local safety freedivers with us, we were allowed to go beyond the restricted line. Sir Ed and Phillip were able to usher us into the most amazing parts of the lake.
